Rolls of thermal receipt paper

How much are paper tickets costing your kitchen?

Receipt-printer rolls, jams, reprints and printer upkeep add up quietly. Put in your numbers and see the monthly bill, then compare it to a digital kitchen display at $10/mo billed annually per location, real kds pricing, not a quote you have to request.

Estimate only. Printer upkeep assumes ~$15/location/month for rolls delivery, jams, reprints and amortised hardware. Adjust the per-ticket cost to match your rolls. small-kds is $10/mo billed annually per location after the $1 first month, unlimited screens.

What a Square kitchen display costs

Most kds pricing hides behind a quote form. Ours does not. Small KDS is one flat price per location, so working out how much a bump screen adds is easy: nothing extra. Here is the whole thing.

$10 /mo billed annually

That is $120 a year per location, two months free versus paying monthly. First month $1, then $10/mo billed annually, or $12/mo month to month.

  • Unlimited screens per location, every station on one price
  • Live Square orders on any iPad or Android tablet
  • Priced in your local currency; sales tax added at checkout

A flat price beats paying per screen

Per-screen kds pricing punishes a growing line: a bump screen at the grill, one at expo, one at the bar, and each device lands on the bill. Small KDS charges per location, not per device, so one flat $10/mo billed annually covers as many screens as the kitchen needs. Four screens cost the same as one.

A kitchen display for Square, not a POS

Small KDS reads the orders you already take in Square and puts them on screen. It is not a point of sale and it does not handle payment, so there is nothing to migrate and no second system to run. You keep Square for orders and payments, and add one flat kds price to show those orders on every screen.

Why paper costs more than the roll

It is not just the paper

A cheap thermal roll hides the real cost: a jam at the Friday rush, a reprint when a ticket smudges, an order missed because the printer ran out. A screen never jams and never runs out of paper.

Every station needs its own slip

Grill, expo, bar: each printed order multiplies. A kitchen display shows the same order on every screen for one flat price, so adding a station costs nothing extra.

Do I need new hardware?

No. small-kds runs on any spare Android tablet or iPad. Connect Square, pick your location, and orders appear live. No new POS, no printer.

How much is a bump bar or bump screen going to cost?

A bump bar or bump screen for Square doesn't have to mean expensive proprietary hardware. Our kds pricing is $10/mo billed annually per location with unlimited screens, first month $1. Monthly billing is $12/mo. Prices are shown in your local currency and any sales tax is added at checkout.
